Nam June Paik Art Center, located in Sanggal-dong, Gilheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, is a Gyeonggi province art museum that was established in 2008 in order to honor the world-famous video artist, Nam June Paik's world of art. It is a building with two stories underground and three above ground. It has permanent exhibition hall, special exhibition hall, reference room, creation space, museum storage, research facility and other amenities. 2,285 works, including Sam-won-so, TV fish, TV clock, and robot 456, are displayed. In 2003, architectural design of Nam June Paik Art Center was decided through international competition exhibition, where 430 artist participated. The design was jointly designed by the grand prize winner, architect Kirsten Schemel, and Marina Stankovic in Germany Berlin KSMS Schemel Stankovic Architect. In Nam June Paik Art Center, research work is going on about media and Nam jun Paik, and is endeavoring in training international curators. Through more than 24 international seminars, invitation workshops and lectures per year, it is experiencing creative interference and fusion of media technology and new humanism. Also, it is pursuing practical approach regarding various problems, such as deplacement phenomenum caused by rapid information technology as well as the global warming effect.
