International Medical Coordinator Training'… Full-Scale Development of Global
Medical Talent Underway

Gyeonggi
Province will conduct its '2026 International Medical Coordinator Training' to
boost the attraction of foreign patients and strengthen competitiveness in
international healthcare.
International
medical coordinators are specialized professionals who handle all aspects of
international healthcare, including interpretation and translation services for
foreign patients, guidance on medical services, tourism linkage, follow-up
care, and global marketing. Their importance continues to grow in line with the
globalization of the medical market and rising demand for medical tourism.
This training
program is designed to cultivate professionals specializing in attracting
foreign patients within Gyeonggi Province, and will be divided into basic and
advanced courses targeting speakers of various languages, including English,
Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Mongolian, and Vietnamese. In particular, the
program plans to strengthen practical on-site response capabilities through
customized training that reflects the characteristics of each language and
differences in medical culture across countries.
Approximately
50 trainees will complete three months of practice-oriented coursework
covering: understanding the foreign patient attraction industry; medical
terminology and clinical basics; medical law and patient rights; global medical
marketing; AI-based service utilization; business communication. The program
will also incorporate case-based practice centered on foreign patient
interactions and scenario-based training to enhance real-world applicability.
In addition,
trainees will participate in familiarization tours and on-site internship
programs at major medical institutions in the province, gaining firsthand
experience in supporting the actual treatment of foreign patients. Through
this, they will internalize the roles and workflow of international medical
coordinators and receive support to grow into skilled professionals with
practical competencies.
Gyeonggi
Province continues to maximize the utilization of trained talent through
ongoing post-completion support. Some graduates from last year were selected as
'Gyeonggi Province International Medical Supporters,' and were provided with
opportunities to support medical institution familiarization tours, promote the
attraction of overseas patients, and gain hands-on interpretation and
translation experience, thereby actively supporting medical institutions in the
province in their efforts to attract foreign patients.
Furthermore,
graduates are demonstrating the program's outcomes by entering a variety of
fields, including employment at hospitals, clinics, and foreign patient
attraction agencies, as well as freelance interpretation and translation work.
Gyeonggi Province plans to continuously expand tailored employment support and
job placement for trainees who wish to pursue careers in international
healthcare, in conjunction with employment support programs.
Gyeonggi
Province stated, "International medical coordinators are key personnel who
elevate the quality of medical services and determine the satisfaction of
foreign patients," adding, "We will continue to actively support
Gyeonggi Province's advancement into a global medical hub through the
cultivation of specialized talent and job creation."
